AT THE LAST MEETING on January 18th, 10 members
were on hand to greet DG Steve Raposa and CST Bev
Dillon as they made their official visitation to the club.
DG Steve spoke about his goals this year of 1) that the clubs in
District 33S raise $400,000 for Mass. Lions Eye Research, and 2)
that there be a plus-19 growth in membership throughout the
District. Noting that there are 45,000 Lions Clubs
world-wide, DG Steve also spoke about Int'l President Tan's
desire that clubs plant trees in their communities. DG Steve
hopes clubs in the District will plant a total of at least 50
trees.
OTHER NEWS & NOTES
The club will
plan to attend the Charter Night of the college-based Lions Club that is forming
at UMass-Dartmouth. Lion Bob K's granddaughter, Paisley Kirkland,
will be joining that new club as a charter member.
St. Patrick's
Day is coming, and with it comes the Scituate St. Patrick's Day
Parade on Sunday, March 18, 2012. The District 33S Eyemobile is
booked for that date to be part of the parade - along with us! We will
once again be a "Good Neighbor Sponsor" of the parade.
NOTE: The Spring
Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, March 25th, at the Elks
Hall on Rt. 139 in Marshfield. (Our usual date, Palm Sunday, April 1st was
booked, April 8th is Easter, and the date we had chosen, April 15th, is the
start of the spring school vacation week!) So, mark your calendars now!
The next
Daily Number Lottery Raffle will be held beginning March 26th, and run
thru April 4th. Tickets will be available at the coming meeting. We
can also sell tickets at the March 25th Pancake Breakfast. Tickets are $10 each,
with only 100 tickets sold. How does it work? If the two numbers on your
ticket match the middle two numbers of the Mass. Daily Number (evening drawing),
then you win $50.00!

"relaxed" time. The show is, "Creepy Crawly and Company," featuring Bonnie
Main, a.k.a. The Snake Lady, and her assortment of "challenged" critters!
-
Repair of
